The root of the herb Shatavari is one of the most potent plants used in the Ayurvedic tradition to reinvigorate the female reproductive system. It has a reputation for improving fertility and addressing low estrogen levels in peri-menopause and menopause.
It appears to enhance LH and FSH production from the pituitary gland, stimulating ovulation and estrogen production in the ovaries. I have noticed clinically that it can also be effective at normalizing an irregular menstrual cycle and increasing vaginal moisture. It comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “Woman with a thousand husbands” which refers to its effect on fertility and libido.
Talk to me to see if this herb is right for you. It is not appropriate for women who have had breast cancer and because it enhances moisture production can prove too moistening for those with conditions such as chronic sinusitis.
